Hajduszoboszlo It is a very small town located in the heart of the Great Hungarian Plain. It is a charming health-resort and spa situated 202 km from Budapest, the Hungarian capital, and 21 km from Debrecen, the provincial capital of the Tiszántúl region. It lies in the sunniest part of the country. The town is full of various attractions and picturesque places. The greatest local treasure are the spa waters with outstanding therapeutic properties.
Flower Carnival 20th August - Saint Stephen Day (Szent István ünnepe).
The anniversary of the foundation of the Hungarian state is celebrated on that day. On the St Stephen Day, festive sporting events, marches and parades are held in the whole country. It is also the first day of the Hungarian new bread celebration. To commemorate it, many craft and folk art fairs are organized in many places, the biggest of which takes place in the Buda Castle. One of the most spectacular events is the flower festival held on that day in Debrecen, where you can see interesting flower specimens from around the world, while in Hortobágy, at the nine arch bridge, the great fair and folk dancing take place. Traditionally, a beautiful fireworks display closes the festivities.
Aquapark – The Ball In Hajduszoboszlo swimming pool
Aquapark is an amusement water park with the area of 25ha. All of its 11 swimming pools are extremely popular. Everyone, regardless of the age, can find there something to enjoy. The pool with artificial waves is a favourite with most visitors. There is also a bubble pool, which is a perfect place for older people to relax. A 50m swimming pool is located next to the boathouse, on the roof of which there is a sunbathing place for ladies. Smaller paddling pools and a training pool are located further away. A few steps beyond them, the Omega swimming pool stretches out with a two-lane slide at its side. A pond, on which boats and pedal boats cruise is the main attraction of the beach. Taking into consideration the demand for family attractions, the first in Hungary complex of slides has been built in the Aquapark. You can find there a gigantic four-lane slide, a kamikaze slide, a G-force slide, a "black hole" and a "crazy river".Once a month, a great ball is held in the Aquapark in Hajduszoboszlo. On that day, tourists can dance on the bottom of the main swimming pool (for this purpose, of course, emptied of water). Famous Hungarian music bands, local delicacies, good wine and fireworks display add to the enjoyment.
The Great Hungarian Plain – Hortobagy
It is a flat region in the eastern part of the country with the area of 52 000 square kilometres. It is dominated by cultivated fields and the remains of an old grassy steppe – the Puszta, slowly turned into an agricultural land. The Puszta has been partially put under protection and creates a part of the Hortobagy National Park. It is dotted with lonely farmsteads surrounded by fields and pastures.On this rather large area there are just three big cities. Debrecen is called the Calvinist Rome because in the 15-th century it was the centre of Hungarian reformation. It is also famous for its elegant buildings and green gardens. In the middle of the Great Hungarian Plain there is the Lake Tisza, the second biggest lake in Hungary (127 sq km). On its northern shore, in the Tiszavalki bay, there is a bird reserve, which is a part of the Hortobagy National Park. The central part of the lake is the biggest fishery in Hungary, where more than 50 fish species leaves, 12 of them being strictly protected. .
